In Memory

Philip C Moran (Teacher /Class Adviser)

As many of you know, Phil  Moran was our class advisor for 3 of the 4 years we were at Sheehan.  I was hoping to get him to come to our 40th reunion, but was disappointed to learn he had passed away.  He was a dedicated teacher and he was a great class advisor.  Here is his obit, for anyone else like me who missed it.  Adios Amigo!

Philip C. Moran, 65, of Wallingford, beloved husband of Pamela Weed Moran, died Monday, January 26,2009 after a heroic battle with a lengthy illness.

Born in Jamestown, New York, July 31, 1943, a son of the late Charles R. and Lois Carlson Moran, he grew up in Erie, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Edinboro University with a teaching degree in Social Studies and Spanish. He taught in Seafort, Delaware before coming to Wallingford in 1967. Philip had been employed by the Wallingford Board of Education as a teacher at the former Robert Early Middle School and then at Mark T. Sheehan High School for 32 years until his retirement in 1999. He had been the coordinator of the Wallingford School System Driver Education Program, a member of the Wallingford Education Association negotiating team, a member of the Sheehan High School Building Evaluation Committee and an Advisor to several Sheehan High School graduating classes. Phil will be remembered as a diehard Yankees fan, a political junkie and vigorous debater, and a source of wisdom and strength for anyone facing adversity.

Besides his wife Pamela, he is survived by his daughter, Megan A. Gervais and her husband Steven of Meriden and his brother, Steven M. Moran and his wife Beth and their children, Stephany and Molly of Bensalem, Pennsylvania.

This is sad news - he was one of my favorite teachers.
